The University of Missouri Botanic Garden is a public resource where one can learn how plants better our lives through the collection, display, interpretation and conversation of plants suited to central Missouri.
There are several ways that individuals can help the Mizzou Botanic Garden through our Volunteer Program. Decide which is right for you, and let us know via our online form!
See the groups working now on campus.
Docent
A docent is an individual with specific horticultural knowledge who will give tours of the campus gardens or the MU Tree Trail.
On-Call Volunteer
Volunteers are needed occasionally to lend a hand on projects or special events, such as Garden-sponsored conferences, updating plant labels or helping on planting projects.
Volunteer Gardener
Gardens need continuous care. Volunteer Gardeners help meet that need by assisting our staff in maintaining our beautiful gardens. Volunteers can work in the campus gardens Tuesdays through Fridays.
We ask that you work a minimum of two hours, beginning at 8 a.m., 10 a.m. or Noon, and let us know your schedule in advance. We will provide training, tools, gloves and a parking pass.
Adopt-a Spot
One person or a group may select a spot of intensive landscaping to help with the maintenance raising the level of appearance to new heights. Once a spot is selected it is worked unsupervised at the person or groups discretion.
To volunteer for any of these programs, please sign-up below or call the Mizzou Botanic Garden at the Landscape Services office, (573)884-7597
