How Can You Help The Mizzou Botanic Garden Grow?
The landscape of the University of Missouri-Columbia plays an important role in strengthening the academic environment, providing an educational resource, and enhancing the image of the University. Gifts to the Mizzou Botanic Garden or its endowment fund provide a meaningful (and beautiful!) way for alumni, friends, corporations and foundations to make a vibrant and highly visible contribution.
There are a variety of gift opportunities you may want to consider. We would be delighted to discuss these and other possibilities.
Friends of the Garden
Friends of the Mizzou Botanic Garden provide financial support that is used to help preserve and develop the gardens, as well as to support MU's educational mission.
All members receive:
- The Leaflet, a semi-annual newsletter that includes news and articles on horticultural topics

Adopt-a-Tree
Enthusiasm is running high over the University Tree Trails—three walking loops at the heart of campus where visitors are treated to the seasonal delights of 115 varieties of trees. A free, colorful and educational 30-page booklet, filled with maps and horticultural details, guides visitors along these paths or print off a copy from the web.
Adopting a tree is a solid, lasting investment that supports educational opportunities for young people and increases their appreciation of our environment.
The Adopt-a-Tree program allows your tax deductible gift of $500 to support the publication of the guide and the maintenance of the trees and trails. Contributors to this project are recognized both in the tree guide and on the tree's identification plaque.

Memorial Gardens, Benches and Trees
A beautiful way to make an educational gift to the University is to establish a garden in a prominent location, containing labeled collections of perennial flowers, ornamental grasses and trees. A 7"x12" bronze plaque commemorates your gift in a lasting manner; an endowment fund for maintenance will assure its continued beauty.
Gift amounts vary depending on location and size of garden.
Another popular gift option is an attractive, comfortable redwood bench - an amenity much appreciated by students, visitors and the entire University community. A 2 ½"x5" bronze plaque commemorating your gift is a functional way to have your generosity acknowledged and enjoyed for years.
Bench. . . . . . . . . .$5,000 each
A tree is a living legacy, an investment that appreciates in size and beauty. A gift of a tree is a profoundly thoughtful and enduring way of honoring or commemorating a graduate, alum, parent, retiring member of the University's faculty or staff, an organization or special event. A 5"x8" bronze plaque alongside the tree gratefully acknowledges your gift and the honoree. Your gift also provides for the tree's continued care and enriches Mizzou's botanical education resources. Many different species are needed for different locations on campus. Our landscape architects will gladly assist you in your selection.
Memorial Tree. . . . . . . . . .$1,500-$2,000 each
