“The greatest service that can be rendered any country is to add a useful plant to its culture”
— Thomas Jefferson
Jefferson knew what we are again discovering—that plants better our lives by providing cures for disease, protecting our environment, supplying food to a hungry world and nurturing our souls.
The Mizzou Botanic Garden is a living museum of thousands of plants displayed amongst famous icons, such as Jefferson's original grave marker and the Columns of Academic Hall. The garden is designed to delight campus visitors with its beauty and to provide a fertile academic environment for educators, researchers and students.
The Mizzou Botanic Garden is open year-round and is free to the public. Maps for self-guided tours are available in the Reynolds Alumni Center. We hope you will visit often as the garden changes with each season and grows with each passing year.
For a detailed list of the many gardens housed in the Mizzou Botanic Garden visit the Garden Descriptions page.
Alumni, friends and organizations wishing to support the Mizzou Botanic Garden's growth may contact the Development office at (573)884-3160.
